It took me almost half a year to finish drawing the flowchart of the Order entry system.
I had experience working in the design department of a factory, overseas sales experience, and computer knowledge. Therefore, when an order was placed from an overseas subsidiary or distributor, I was able to create a flow chart of the series of operations in which they were produced at the factory and the finished equipment was shipped.
With that flowchart, I approached the computer divisions of the International and Medical Devices divisions.
For the first time, he explained the concept of the order entry system to the people concerned.
I had consulted with them in various ways before, and it didn’t take long for them to understand this content.
Until now, all this series of work was instructed by handwritten documents.
At that time, the people in the computer sector were also looking for what they should mainly develop.
In order to build this system, it was necessary to organize the necessary information for each design department and manufacturing department of the factory. That’s why I asked them for help.
Surprisingly, the factory’s manufacturing department was the most interested in this proposal.
By that time, when the manufacturing department received the handwritten purchase order, they had to first prepare the paperwork for the arrangement.
Also, once this system started working, everyone understood that the current backlog and sales prospects could be easily achieved.
At first, Miss. Yatsushiro looked at me with strange eyes, but she honestly told me that she wanted me to participate in this work as well.
In this way, this system, which I started by myself, became a major project for the Medical Devices Division and the International Division.
I am proud that this order entry system is the biggest job I have contributed to Toshiba.
But none of my superiors at the time praised my achievements.
The award was given for the achievements of the computer division of the International Business Division and the Medical Device Division. The achievements of the manufacturing department were also commended.
I didn’t complain about it either.
It took three years to complete this system.
One year before the completion of this system, Sumita, the senior manager of the international department, came to me and asked me if I could return to the sales department. I declined the invitation from the senior manager just because it would take another year to complete the system.
